IN PRINT: Princeton Sophs Lead Book Club For Recovering Addicts

www.rescuemissionoftrenton.orgWhen Ogechi Oparah '13 signed up to volunteer for a few days at the Rescue Mission of Trenton through Princeton's InterAction program (held over intersession), she never thought she would find herself back there so soon. But before long, Oparah felt a connection to the place, to its residents, and to its mission, and she knew that she couldn't just leave it behind. So began an inspiring project - a book club for men in the Rescue Mission's residential addiction treatment program. The book club, led by Oparah and her roommate, Alison Gocke, functions as a part of the organization's Trenton Educational Assistance Center for the Homeless (TEACH), which provides career, life skills, and academic training to participants in the program.Check out this Trenton Times story to read more about this unique program and the way it's changing the lives of its members.
