All I Want For Christmas is You, Tiger...

Kelvin Kay, en:user:kkmdAh, the wonders of the holiday season: a tree in Palmer Square that’s approximately ten trillion feet tall, a barrage of simply lovely end-of-term assignments, and, of course, the eternal quest for some cute Inkblot to kiss under the mistletoe.  Never fear, Tigers!  Former USG President Josh Weinstein ’09 has the site for you.Goodcrush.com, which Weinstein started earlier this year (with some start-up help from Joseph Perla '09), provides Princeton’s resident lonely-hearts with a prime chance to rhapsodize about all their geeky missed connections, and, with luck, connect with that soul mate who looked oh-so-suave sitting in Lewis Library at 2AM.Weinstein and Perla’s newest iteration of the site, which went live just last week, caters to these ubiquitous missed opportunities and allows students to play out the tempting fantasy of a second chance with Mr. Right.  “Thinking about someone? Or something? Did you almost, could have, would have, should have - but didn't?,” the site asks. “Post about it here. They'll see it, and who knows...magic may ensue.”The site’s promise of fantastical true love has made it a big hit on college campuses so far: the Princeton-specific GoodCrush currently sports 272 missed connections, while its other ten branches (at schools like NYU, Yale, and Stanford) are quickly gaining momentum.“It's nostalgic, reminiscent of the classic middle school note shoved inside a locker, the one with doodled hearts and the tentative message of ‘Do you like me? Circle yes or no,’ " wrote Anthony Coleman in the Trenton Times when GoodCrush started last winter, and the site's unique combination of dating potential and blatant sexy-talk makes it utterly addictive.Add the fact that the site’s inclusion of “Spotted:” at the beginning of each person’s post makes it read like a narration from Gossip Girl, and you’ve got a site that threatens to eat away a vast amount of my precious Facebook-stalking time this holiday season.  Because hey, let’s face it: how often do you get to read phrases like “I see you doing your nails in Robertston and all I want to do is nail you” as you struggle through the end of term? Not freaking often enough, in my humble opinion.
