Nothing ever happens at Princeton (Part 5673)
While on a stroll down Nassau Street yesterday afternoon, near the intersection of University Place, we noticed something that could only mean a cataclysmic event had occurred: a large crowd, two Borough Police cars with flashing lights, and three officers pacing around. We struggled through the halted pedestrian traffic outside Chase Bank, our minds racing with images of murder scenes and bank robberies.
But, of course, no. You see, there was a hawk on the sidewalk with a dead pigeon, which obviously means three police officers had to be there because they might have had to stabilize the pigeon and treat it for shock.Apparently, the hawk was refusing to fly away, indicating that it was either injured or just lazy about having to carry away a fat bird. A couple middle-aged women kept screeching at the police officers to call animal control, which they had already done. The officers were too scared to approach the hawk so they tried to shoo it away by driving a patrol car onto the sidewalk and revving its engines. One woman freaked out upon arriving at the scene, saying "I don't do well with the food cycle!"Pictures of the hawk and its dinner:
